Smile Train UK teamed up with long-standing supporter and Grammy Award-winning artist Eve for the BGC Charity Day in Canary Wharf on Monday 11 September.

BGC Partners is a global financial services company, and their annual charity day is held at their offices in London and around the world. The BGC Charity Day was established after the organisation was devastated by the loss of more than 600 friends and colleagues in New York on September 11, 2001.

Since then, BGC have held one of London’s most prestigious fundraising days, raising almost $200 million USD (£161 million) for good causes around the world, transforming thousands of lives.

Money for the charity event is raised through celebrities trading on the phones with clients and clinching deals, as well as from BGC and their team donating all profits from that day’s trading to a host of good causes.

Eve was a hotshot on the phone lines and clinched six trades with the final trade of the day coming in at €1 billion. She then took a tour around the offices and handed out teddies to young beneficiaries of Charity Day.

Eve said: “It's a true privilege to be fundraising and lending my support to Smile Train UK at the BGC Charity Day. Smile Train's vision is close to my heart because it's all about transforming lives and bringing smiles to those who need them most. With every phone call and deal clinched on this poignant day, we have the power to transform the futures of those with clefts, and I’m humbled to have played a small part.”
