Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

As Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Smile Train, Brian brings over twenty years of experience in direct-to-consumer marketing, marketing intelligence platforms, and business development. Prior to joining Smile Train, Brian was a Partner in New Madison Ave, a digital media agency, where he was responsible for developing marketing, public relations outreach, business relationships, and customer acquisition strategies for clients. Prior to joining New Madison, he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Management for Scholastic, Inc., the leader in children’s media and book publishing.

Brian developed his technology marketing skills initially at BRAND2B, a boutique branding, marketing and interactive agency specializing in the convergence of the Internet, technology and media and as Chief Executive Officer of the Hollywood Stock Exchange – a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. He began his career at The Nielsen Company, rising to the title of Senior Vice President, where he held multiple management positions in this multi-billion dollar media measurement and market data organization.

In recent years as his three young sons grew older, Brian often found it difficult to explain exactly what he did all day. Building “marketing information platforms” at Nielsen or customer acquisition strategies for Movie rental companies didn’t seem to register with his sons... his position at Scholastic heading up marketing for Book Clubs and ecommerce was at least related to “selling books”... but his current position of helping cure children of clefts is finally easy to understand and excites the three boys and their friends at school!

Brian earned a Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University. He is a graduate of The Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. He joined Smile Train in 2010.
